And now a ‘Scream’ TV Series

A still from Scream 4

In an exciting bit of news, MTV today announced that they’re working on a pilot for a TV series based on the Scream movie franchise, and that they’re trying to get Wes Craven (the director of the movie series), on board to be involved in some way.

The Scream films, a series of American slasher films, created by Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven and starring Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette, grossed over $600 million, and received significant critical acclaim. There were plans for more films, but these were scrapped after the fourth movie which released in 2011, failed to do as well as its predecessors.

MTV have high hopes for the project, and they plan on airing it in the summer of 2014.

It is not yet known whether any of the original cast members will be involved in the project at all.
