'Baazigar' sequel in the pipeline?
Baazigar is probably one of the films that helped launch Shah Rukh Khan into super stardom and made being an antagonist cool. Which is why it's hardly surprising that in an age where sequels are in, producer Ratan Jain is contemplating making a sequel to the iconic film – with the only catch being he will not make it without SRK.
"Yes, I am contemplating with the idea of the sequel to Baazigar, but not right now. I am busy with my other projects. Maybe three to four years down the line, I will make a sequel to Baazigar," said Jain, whose brother Ganesh Jain produced the crime thriller all those years back.
"However, I will not make the sequel without Shah Rukh. So let's see how things fall in place. It's too early to comment on anything at this point of time," he added in a statement to IANS.
Baazigar which released back in 1993 and was directed by Abbas-Mustan, had shades of the Hollywood hit A Kiss Before Dying. The film which was SRK-Kajol's first blockbuster also served as a launchpad for Shilpa Shetty.
Meanwhile, Jain is in the process of rolling out sequel to his Akshay-Shilpa-Sunil sleeper hit Dhadkan, albeit with a fresh star cast.
"The film is in its scripting stage. It will be a fresh film and not a continuation. We won't repeat the same star cast. It will have a new star cast," said Jain, signing off.
