Extra scene added to 'Zanjeer' as a tribute to Sanjay Dutt
Sanjay Dutt is in the process of finishing off his film commitments before he goes back to prison after being sentenced to five years in jail in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. He has been asked to surrender 16 May 2013 to serve the remaining 42 months of the sentence. As a result, in order to make Dutt's presence in Zanjeer extra special, and as a tribute to the actor, director Apoorva Lakhia has added an extra scene in the film, in which Dutt will feature in the climax. Earlier, this scene was never part of the script.
"We are shooting an extra scene with Sanju Sir. Earlier he was not meant to be seen in the closing shots. It was just Ram Charan Teja and Priyanka Chopra. But now we all feel since this would probably be Sanju Sir's last shot for the next few years, we want the audience to leave the theatre with a very strong impression of his character," said a source to IANS.
A quip-like dialogue has also been specially written for Dutt.
Says the source: "It's a very old fashioned ending now where Sanjay's character Sher Khan would make a witty remark."
A remake of 1973 super hit action thriller, which was Amitabh Bachchan's first blockbuster, the new Zanjeer stars Ram Charan Teja, Priyanka Chopra and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles. It releases in the next couple of months.
