Red Carpet Style - Oscars 2013
For any of you who watched the Oscars this weekend, it was clear that the 85th Academy Awards Ceremony was in a class of its own - A being the key letter for Adele, Anne, Ang, Argo and Abe. Adele blew everyone away with her amazing performance of Skyfall and managed to swoop Best Original Song. Anne Hathaway picked up her statuette for Best Supporting Actress in Les Misérables. Ang Lee won Best Director for Life of Pi with Ben Affleck’s Argo gaining Academy Award recognition for Best Picture. Daniel Day-Lewis kept up the British winning streak with his win as a Leading Actor for his portrayal of Abe Lincoln.
In terms of fashion at the event, this weekend did not disappoint with the red carpet being a centre of celebrity style and elegance. Most of the female stars opted for understated mono-tones of white through to black, keeping bold colours to a minimum. That is not to say there was not the odd splash of colour here and there (reds and pinks) but most of the celebs kept to very tasteful, luxurious dresses with simple make-up and hair for a more clean look. The male stars kept to the usual black tie tuxedos however looked very dashing against their female counterparts.
As with every event, there were a number of misses to balance out the hits showing that some stars will never get it right no matter how much styling input they receive. Oh well, there is always next year.
In honour of the stars we know and love, we look at some of the best outfits to hit the carpet, and no we are not talking about Jennifer Lawrence taking a tumble on the stairs! Maybe Kristen Stewart can lend Jennifer her crutches!
