Karan Johar has done pretty well this season, especially given the number of reclusive, enigmatic stars he's brought out of their shells and managed to get them to open up on his, by now, infamous couch. 

The minute I saw the clip of this week's show featuring a reclusive, media shy Emraan Hashmi with a frank Mahesh Bhatt, I was all over it. For a change, we'd have two personalities who didn't give a damn if they hurt any sentiments – I was curious, and this week's episode most definitely did not let me down!

Up first was Hashmi looking rather dapper and spiffy in a grey blazer. Hashmi was refreshingly chilled, and surprisingly well spoken and endearingly self deprecating, which made a change, given the barrage of stars who can't stop going on about themselves on the show.

The actor was well aware that he'd made a career out of exploiting his own sex appeal and the reason behind his success was his by now well known 'serial kisser' tag that he's now unfortunately, or fortunately stuck with. As a result, his audiences now expect a full on smooch in all his films, a career pitfall, the actor's wife now seems to have come to terms with. Hashmi went on to reveal, how during a screening of Murder, his wife was about to throttle him, especially since nobody was aware how far they'd pushed the envelope way back in 2003. Interestingly, the actor also revealed, that he never watches Bollywood films and never mingles with any film folk, so he's definitely in the profession by accident rather than default! The gem was of course, when he was left fumbling after he couldn't remember it was Rajkumar Hirani who directed the huge blockbuster 3 Idiots.

Expectedly, Mahesh Bhatt was also at his candid best on the show. The controversial director went on to reveal how he was behind Hashmi's sexy image and he was the one who convinced the actor to cash in on the same and give his audiences what they want. The director also felt that Awaarapan flopped back in 2008, because Hashmi was playing a good hearted protagonist and the film, despite having fabulous music, didn't work because they didn't exploit Hashmi's sexy image enough. Bhatt was also forthright about his liaison with Parveen Babi and the colourful life he'd led – which made for intriguing viewing, but there wasn't anything there we didn't know already.

I think the Rapid Fire round in this episode was probably the best of the series! Both the actor and his mentor were brutal, scathing and didn't hold back at all. Hashmi's fascination for Katrina Kaif didn't go unnoticed, and his dislike for Mallika Sherwat was obvious too. Both men indicated their displeasure on how Anurag Basu had moved away from their camp and on to Ranbir's in both their rounds, which was interesting, and I didn't actually know there was a case of sour grapes there. 

Overall, the episode was a fun one and definitely one of the better ones recently, because both mentor and protege were so brutally honest!

Salman is a better actor than Aamir, Aishwarya is completely plastic, Emraan could have done Barfi! better than Ranbir, Kajol and Sanjay Leela Bhansali are both overrated – are only a few of the gems you'll hear from the duo on the show! I won't ruin it for you here but a few of their answers during the Rapid Fire round, will make you go 'Whoa... did they JUST SAY THAT??!'
