Anushka Sharma has confidence issues

Sharma refused to comment on whether she's been cast in Steven Spielberg's next.

She's the darling of the honchos at Yash Raj Films, and in her relatively short career span has starred with some of the biggest stars and notched up several hits. But despite her seemingly vivacious and confident nature, Anushka Sharma says she's actually quite shy in reality.

"I am a very under-confident person. Whatever is seen in films is just a projection of my character. I wish I could be as confident as the characters I play on screen, but I am not. I am a very shy person," said the actress to reporters in Canada, where she's currently attending the Times of India Film Awards (TOIFA).

Sharma said being one of the top actresses was not a planned move, and that her foray into filmdom happened purely by chance.

"It wasn't planned as I came from Bangalore. We don't have the influence of films. I didn't grow up watching films, so it wasn't a decision to be an actor. But god had something different planned for me," she said.

The talented diva was last seen in Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola earlier this year, and will next be seen in Bombay Velvet (with Ranbir Kapoor) and P.K. with Aamir Khan. There were whispers that Sharma had also bagged a Steven Spielberg film which will be shot in India, but the actress refused to comment on the rumours.
