2012’s Magic Mike was nowhere near as raunchy as it was heralded and made out to be. In fact beneath the façade of body beautifuls and scorched torsos, was a sensitive story expertly told and executed by Steven Soderbergh.

He hands over the reins of its sequel, Magic Mike XXL to his associate director from Ocean’s 12, Gregory Jacobs, and the film’s teaser doesn’t reveal much at all, except perhaps, that Channing T can still pack in the moves and pelvic thrusts.

Not much is known about the film’s plot either, except that it’s about a stripping convention(!) and that its treatment looks far less serious than its predecessor.  

Alex Pettyfer is nowhere to be seen, but familiar faces like Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Gabriel Iglesias are and this time the strapping cast are supported by Andie Macdowell, Jada Pinkett Smith and Elizabeth Banks.

Magic Mike XXL blazes on to screens on 1 July, but meanwhile you can salivate over the teaser that Tatum just blessed us with earlier today. You’re welcome.
