First Look & Theatrical Trailer: ‘Kill Dil’
Ali Zafar's character 'Will Kill For Dosti'... Ranveer Singh's character 'Will Kill For Dil'... Parineeti Chopra's character 'Will Kill For Pyaar' and Govinda's character 'Will Kill For Paisa'. I'll tell you what I'll kill for... A decent film.
There hasn't been that much of a buzz around Kill Dil. Come to think of it that there hasn't been that much of a buzz around any of Yash Raj Films' productions this year – right from Bewakoofiyaan to Daawat-E-Ishq, YRF have hardly gone all out on publicity overkill – a lack of decent exposure in this day and age can spell doom for any film. Gunday came with a fair bit of pre-release buzz but the other two have hardly had any hype around them.
Coming back to Kill Dil, the film looks like a slickly produced love triangle between Parineeti's character and two killers (Ranveer and Ali Zafar), brought up by a rather menacing looking gangster (played by Govinda).
The film's trailer is more a series of interludes with a 'Tarantino-esqueness' to it and doesn't give away much about its plot, and has been well put together. What stood out was Parineeti's foxiness and Govinda as the antagonist towering well and truly above everyone else. Ranveer seems to be repeating his bromance act, only this time with Ali Zafar (who clearly needs that one big break, as none of his films have really done that well).
As an aside I do quite like the fluorescent posters of the film. They're out of the box, highlighting individual character traits, and it's not like anything I've seen before, at least recently.
Shaad Ali has helmed quite a mix bag of films. Saathiya was his best film, but then he was also behind a travesty called Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, so I'm holding out any judgement for this one until I actually see the film. For some reason i found the trailer having a very Tashan feel to it... And I really hope it's nothing like that disaster. If I recall correctly, in that film Anil Kapoor played a kooky gangster too and his character was also called Bhaiyaji.
Official Synopsis
Once upon a time in North India, two killers – Dev (Ranveer Singh) and Tutu (Ali Zafar), roamed free. Abandoned when young and vulnerable, Bhaiyaji (Govinda) gave them shelter and… nurtured them to kill. All is normal in their lives until destiny throws free spirited Disha (Parineeti Chopra) into the mix. What follows is a game of defiance, deception and love.
Kill Dil has music by Shankar Ehsaan and Loy and hits theatres on 14 November 2014.
