Indian Box Office: Race 2 hits Rs.150 crore worldwide; Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns has poor opening
Tips's thriller Race 2 has hit Rs. 150 crore (£1.8 million approx) worldwide and is among the top 20 grossers of all time. The film made in the region of Agneepath, Ghajini, Housefull 2, Ready, Barfi!, Talaash, Golmaal 3, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Bol Bachchan, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Dhoom 2, but is behind films like Dabangg 2, Bodyguard, Dabangg, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Don 2, Ra.One, Rowdy Rathore and My Name Is Khan.
This week's new release, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns, a sequel to the 2011 sleeper hit Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, has opened poorly at around 20% at select multiplexes but it may pick up on the back of good reviews and the fact that it's the only release this week.
The critically acclaimed Kai Po Che continues to do well and has earned nearly Rs. 40 crore (£489, 000 approx) in its second week. (Source: Box Office India).
In their second week both the John-Prachi-Chitrangada starrer I Me Aur Main and Ram Gopal Varma's The Attacks Of 26/11 are poor and have no chance of recovery at ticket windows.
