Parineeti Chopra ‘humbled’ by National Award mention

Parineeti Chopra received a special mention from the National Award Jury for her role in Ishaqzaade

It seems the Chopra ladies are synonymous with National Awards. After Priyanka Chopra walked away with the National Award for Fashion in 2009, cousin Parineeti Chopra too has got a nod from the jury when the awards were announced this morning. Although she didn’t actually win the award, Chopra received a ‘special mention’ for her firebrand performance in last year’s successful Ishaqzaade. And considering she’s only two films old, that’s a huge honour indeed.

"After winning so many debut awards, I never thought I would win for 'Ishaqzaade', but when I did, it was the biggest one in the country! That too for my first lead role," said Chopra in a statement to NDTV.

"I just cannot believe it. But this scares and humbles me, and will definitely make me work even harder in the future! Thank you jury," she added.

Chopra made her debut in Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl in 2011. She will next be seen in Maneesh Sharma's next, opposite Sushant Singh Rajput, Anurag Kashyap-Karan Johar's joint production, Hasee Toh Phasee, opposite Siddharth Malhotra and Shaad Ali'sKill Dil alongside Ranveer Singh and Ali Zafar.
