Sneak Peek: 'American Hustle'

Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner, Christian Bale and Jennifer Lawrence in American Hustle

David O.Russell came to the forefront with last year's award winning Silver Linings Playbook based on a brilliant book of the same name. And if early indications are anything to go buy his next featuring an incredibly talented all star cast is set to wow both critics and the box office too.

American Hustle is based on a sting operation that took place in Boston in the late 70s and early 80s and like most of O. Russell's films, features an ensemble cast comprising of Bradley Cooper, Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Jennifer Lawrence.

The film is certified fresh on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes with an astounding 95%, and the general consensus is that the film scores with its terrific cast and O. Russell's impeccable direction, both of which are at the top of their game.

The trailer looks intriguing and seemingly Bale seems to have the most footage and screen time, but my guess is none of the other cast has been sidelined either and do their bit in the film.

American Hustle is set for a US release next week, and a worldwide release in subsequent weeks thereafter, and even prior to its release has won major accolades at the Satellite Awards in LA and the Hollywood Film Festival.

Official synopsis

A fictional film set in the alluring world of one of the most stunning scandals to rock our nation, American Hustle tells the story of brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who along with his equally cunning and seductive British partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) is forced to work for a wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that's as dangerous as it is enchanting. Jeremy Renner is Carmine Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator caught between the con-artists and Feds. Irving's unpredictable wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down. Like David O. Russell's previous films, American Hustle defies genre, hinging on raw emotion, and life and death stakes.
