Sonam Kapoor talks Khubsoorat
It seems that remaking classics are the order of the day and our filmmakers are fast running out of original ideas. Another remake in the pipeline is that of Khubsoorat – the film that got veteran Rekha her first Filmfare award way back in 1981. The remake stars Sonam Kapoor, and the young actress says she got Rekha’s consent before going ahead with it.
"I got her blessings for the film I am doing; I met her at the Jab Tak Hai Jaan premiere and that's when she told (blessed) me," said Kapoor to IANS.
"We are just taking the spirit of the character and putting it in a modern way. We are modernising it and just keeping the spirit of the girl. We are not sticking to the same story line," she added.
The original starred Ashok Kumar and Rakesh Roshan along with Rekha and was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee while the new one is being produced Anil Kapoor, and directed by Shashanka Ghosh.
"I am very excited to work with Shashank. He is the director and he is an absolute genius. The film is going on floors in August."
Along with the remake, Sonam will also be seen in Raanjhnaa and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag which release in June and July respectively.
