Sunny Deol to direct son

Actor-producer Sunny Deol, who has wielded the megaphone before for the 1999 dud Dillagi, says that he's keen to launch his son Karan in a year and that he may take the director's chairs for the same.

"I might direct my son as well... not now at least," said Sunny, who is currently busy promoting their home production Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 in which his son has worked on as an assistant director.

Sunny wants to follow the family tradition and added: "We will launch him like I was launched, my brother was launched. I am basically giving him space because at the end of the day, it is his journey. Parents can only be there to put you there, but after that it's an individual journey."

Asked when he plans to launch Karan, 21, Sunny said: "May be in a year's time. I would give him a year. I would want him to grasp as much knowledge as possible. To me, an actor has to be like a sponge."

Explaining his decision for being completely reclusive, and not being seen in too many films, Sunny said: "Of late, I have not been doing too many films. I have realised that it's very important to be seen around. Definitely, I want to do loads of films so that my fans can see me often. I am here only because of them.

"At the moment, I will act for next couple of years. I want to take it a little easy and then I want to get into direction, but I will definitely direct," he added.

Right now he his looking forward to the release of Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, a sequel to the 2011 hit comedy Yamla Pagla Deewana. The film will see him with Dharmendra and Bobby Deol and releases 7 June 2013.

Sunny's future ventures includes Neeraj Pathak's Bhaiyyaji Superhitt, Anil Sharma's Singh Sahab The Great, and Rahul Rawail's Ghayal Returns .
