Theatrical trailer and first look: 'Besharam'

Abhinav Kashyap must have presented one hell of a script to convince the Kapoors to come together in the same film. Until now Rishi-Ranbir had refused to be cast together until an exciting script came along, so Kashyap’s upcoming film must have had something going for it. The cherry on the cake is that mum Neetu Kapoor will be seen in a fully fledged role too after her brief cameo in last year’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

This is Ranbir’s second release of the year and word is that here he will be seen in a role that is in stark contrast to the one he was seen in in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. He has reportedly beefed up for the part which sees him as a street smart rustic character – quite unlike anything he has portrayed before.

With Dabangg (2010) director Kashyap on board, and fresh faced Pallavi Sharda who was seen in bit roles in My Name is Khan (2010) and Heroine (2012), as the female lead, and a trailer that seems to have a lot going for it, it's inevitable that RK Jr is set to continue his winning streak at the box office.

The trailer was launched at an event in Mumbai earlier today (30 July 2013), but Ranbir was not present at the event. Director Abhinav Kashyap said that it was not pre-planned, so the actor could not make it.

"This was not a pre-planned launch. Ranbir is in Sri Lanka and that is why he is not here," Kashyap told reporters at the launch.

"We are roughly two months before the release of the film. This was a part of the promotion cycle. We begin our promotion campaign from tomorrow," he said.

"He is not anti hero here. He is the hero amongst the masses and a hero with whom everyone will relate to. I am not trying to propagate any social message through my film. He is here to entertain everyone, even a poor man, who is not educated," continued Kashyap.

"When I was making Dabangg as well, people used to ask me that why am I naming my film Dabangg as it is a negative word. Even Besharam is a villainous word. I want to tell people the right meaning of the word. I want to show that Besharam can be positive. This will be the quality of my hero. He is a poor guy but has a nice heart," he said.

Besharam hits the marquee 2 October 2013.
