Deepika beats Katrina, bags SRK's 'Happy New Year'
Farah Khan's Happy New Year will perhaps go down in history as the film with the most speculated lead actress till date. From Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to Priyanka Chopra and more recently Katrina Kaif, nearly every top actress (and newcomer) has been associated with the project at some point or another.
However, a recent snippet in The Times of India claims that Farah Khan's never ending search for what is being touted as her most ambitious venture till date has come to an end, and that the lucky lady to bag the coveted part, is none other than actress du jour – Deepika Padukone.
Rumour has it that Deepika has bagged Happy New Year instead of Katrina
Apparently, Deepika was always the frontrunner for the role, it was just a question of her dates and schedule which is now being worked out before a formal announcement is made.
Deepika bagging the project would make perfect sense. She made a dream debut with the same team in Om Shanti Om, she's had one blockbuster hit after another, and doesn't seem to have any serious personal distractions (except perhaps a stray Ranveer Singh).
Wonder what arch rival Katrina feels about this new development? She may have a certain RK by her side, but Deepika it seems, with Imtiaz Ali's film and now this has turned out to be the cat that got the cream – professionally anyway.
Happy New Year also stars Abhishek Bachchan and Vivaan Shah and rolls in September 2014.
