Deepika Padukone to get top billing over SRK
Padukone's name will appear before SRK's in Chennai Express credits.
Now this is refreshing. Word is that in the upcoming Chennai Express, Shah Rukh Khan has insisted that Deepika Padukone's name appear before his in the title credits. Traditionally, the actor's name always appears first unless of course the film itself is heroine centric.
"Starting with Chennai Express, his female costar's name will appear first. SRK has always maintained that it is the women in his life who have been the reason for his success - mother, wife, sister, daughter, co-star sand staff. This is a small but significant step that takes the philosophy forward," said a friend of the actor's to The Times Of India.
In a principally male dominated film industry, ruled by egos and in a society where more often than not women are still treated as second class citizens, the actor's small gesture is indeed a gracious one and needs to be applauded.
