Ileana D’Cruz bags ‘Gabbar’ with Akshay Kumar
D'Cruz will next be seen in Phata Poster Nikla Hero
South star Ileana D’Cruz scored a massive hit with her Hindi debut Barfi! and received as much acclaim as Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra did for Anurag Basu’s uplifting tale of a deaf mute boy last year. On the back of that film, she’s bagged quite a few top projects, the latest being Sanjay Leela Bhansal’s Gabbar which features Akshay Kumar in the lead.
A source told Mumbai Mirror, “Ileana started getting numerous film offers after being noticed for her role in Barfi!. Ramesh Taurani signed her for Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Phata Poster Nikla Hero and now she has bagged Gabbar.”
The film will go on floors by the end of the year after Akshay finishes filming Milan Luthria’s Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai…Again and Ashwin Varde’s Boss.
Talking about the film, the source added, “Akshay and Ileana’s chemistry will be interesting to watch. It is quite an unlikely pairing, which Bhansali is trying to explore. Akshay plays the lead role in the film where he fights against corruption.”
D’Cruz’s next film Phata Poster Nikla Hero will see her with Shahid Kapoor and releases this August.
