Stellar cast on board for Disney's 'Into the Woods'
The cast of Disney's big screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Into the Woods, is swelling with each passing day. Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep, Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal have already been cast. And now comes the news that Emily Blunt has landed a part in the Rob Marshall (Chicago, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides et al) directed venture.
According to sources, Blunt will play the baker’s wife, Streep is playing the part of the twisted, vain and charismatic Witch, while Depp is going to play "a hungry and sexy variation of a fairy tale wolf." Gyllenhaal and Pine will play two princes – "Cinderella’s Prince and Rapunzel’s Prince, brothers who are pompous and self-absorbed."
Disney must have one hell of a script in place to get such a high profile cast on board.
Into the Woods begins filming in September.
