Kangana Ranaut miffed with Ekta Kapoor

Kangana Ranaut is miffed with Ekta Kapoor over the promotions of Shooutout At Wadala

It's happened before. A five minute appearance in a hyped song is given more prominence over a fully fledged role in a film. Katrina Kaif hogged the limelight from lead actress Priyanka Chopra with 'Chikni Chameli' in Agneepath (2012). Kareena Kapoor did it in Dabangg 2 (2012) with 'Fevicol Se', and now it seems more importance has been given to Chopra's and Sunny Leone's item numbers in Shootout At Wadala than Kangana Ranaut who plays the film's lead and is paired with John Abraham's character.

"Kangana feels she's being 'kept away' despite playing the female lead and Manya Surve's (played by John Abraham) love interest after PC (with 'Babli Badmaash') and Sunny Leone (with 'Laila') took centre stage at the film's recent music launch. She's upset about the developments and doesn't want to promote the film," said a source to The Times Of India.

"Ekta even explained to her that she has an important part to play in the promotions, but she just doesn't see reason, upsetting Ekta and Sanjay. Kangana even refused to attend the music launch on Tuesday evening," the source added.

"There's no unnecessary focus on anyone. Kangana is the heroine of the film and nothing changes that. She has no reason to be upset. When Katrina Kaif did the song in Agneepath, it didn't mean that Priyanka was upset. Likewise Kareena doing a special appearance in Dabangg 2 didn't mean that Sonakshi Sinha was upset," said director Sanjay Gupta.

However, the actress's spokesperson denied that Ranaut was rattled.

"Kangana is currently in Bhopal shooting for Revolver Rani. She's close to Ekta and has promised utmost cooperation in the promotion of Shootout At Wadala."

Shootout at Wadala releases on 1 May and also stars Anil Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor and Sonu Sood.
